Perfect pool water isn't luck, it's balance. Here's what we measure on every visit and what the ideal ranges are.
The most critical parameter. Low pH (acidic) burns eyes and corrodes equipment. High pH (alkaline) kills chlorine efficiency and causes scaling.
Chlorine sanitises your water and kills bacteria. Too little invites algae and pathogens; too much irritates skin and fades swimwear.
The "buffer" that stops pH from swinging wildly. Often drops after heavy Illawarra rain. Alkalinity is the first thing we check after a storm.
Too low and water becomes corrosive, etching plaster and metal fittings. Too high causes white calcium scale on tiles and equipment.
A salt chlorinator needs adequate salt to produce chlorine. Rain dilutes salt levels, especially after a big east coast low.
